ta daa
yesterday was the dreadful adult nursing paper for 2 freakin hrs
oh my god
i screwed up my 50 marks essay man!
n the mcqs were tricky..
=(
i felt so dissapointed after the paper
its like i dint put in effort at all, but its true that i dint even put in much effort
i don wish to dissapoint my dad
so anyway after the paper met up wif my sweet hanali after years!! haha
first up, we met at somerset
i went down to body decor to check on my piercing coz it seems inflammed
so the piercer suggested warm compress n hopefully it will b gone within a week
after which, we trained down to bugis in hope to get ourselves a bag each
apparently, it was abit too expensive n the bag i wanted to find doesnt seem to hav a bigger wan
mayb i will get the small one, the desgin is very very nice but its like 29.90 wth?
instead we got ourselves a skinny belt each tat cost only 2 bucks per belt.. freakin cheap hor
after tat we trained down again to tampines, sat at coffee bean, bought mocha ice blended n started talkin n talkin till nite came.. haha
the way i spent my day was as if the last day of exams! haha
it was really nice to catch up wif hana n talked about pple around us
n i hope to do this more often especially before fasting month comes!!
so today was a break day
sent my grandma to bedok poly for her blood test for renal procedures
then we walked down from bedok interchange to the coffeeshop oppsite my mum's workin place.. my grandma was on the wheelchair, so she literally enjoyed the fact tat there is someone pushin her! haha
then ate breakfast cum lunch together
i shared wif mummy coz i wasnt even hungry!!
afterwhich mummy went back to work, n my maid, grandma n myself walked back home
reached home round 11am
i just stared in blank space
used the comp tru out the day
n i dint even bother openin my book
i dint even sleep despite how hard i forced to close my eyes
even if i were to fall asleep, i will b awake in less than 2 hrs time
hahaha
i donno wat to study already for bio
i kept flippin n readin nutrition
such a bore
then went to read up pharmaco on asthma therapy
about the preventer(controllers) and reliever
wat kind of drugs usually used
so for preventer is like inhaled corticosteroids such as beclomethasone
then for reliever is beta 2 agonist which is often salbutamol as it is rapid acting inhaled beta 2 agonist
n y inhaled is better? coz it goes directly to the airway n systemic effects are lesser
then the list goes on..
tragus really hurt at times
its those intermittent pain
so i texted natalie to ask about her previous swellin on her tragus
it was like WOW, she actually tolerated the pain big time.. her tragus swell so much that she cant even dig her ears
at least mine able to dig the ears still
then how the swell burst n all those yucky products came out n how she actually dint even remove the stud n still go on wif it
shes such a brave gurl
she suggested i applied some lotion n stuffs
so lets hope my tragus will b better
yvonne also provided info on the remedy which is mixing normal saline wif warm water n rinse it after application usin the shower head
i would like to thank the gals tat offer help on reducin the swell n pain on my tragus
so rite now i don hav the drive to read up bio at all
hahaha
tmr meetin yvonne at 12 if im not wrong at the sch library to recap
i will b wearin my singfest shirt that my 2nd bro got for me along wif the shorts i got from fox
so lets see wat i remember for bio
thyroid stuffs
contains follicles of simple cuboidal cells
follical cavity contains colloid
network of capillaries
parafollicular cells otherwise known as c cells secrete calcitonin
calcitonin is released when the calcium in the blood is high
its purpose is to store calcium in bones and increase excretion of calcium at the kidneys
effects of thyroid stimulating hormone which is secreted at at the anterior pituitary otherwise knows as adenohypophysis:
iodide transport into follicle cells
production of tyroglubulin
secretion of thyroid hormones
not forgetiin parathormone (pth)
its function is opposite of calcitonin
so it increases the release of stored calcium in the bone
increases calcitriol secretion in the kidneys
and decreases calcium secretion in the kidneys
pth is such a bugger.. haha.. donno y it loves to increase blood calcium level.. haha
so ya tats for thyroid, hav yet to talk about disorder
haha
so for kidney
i remember the functions:
regulation of blood pressure and blood volume
regulation of plasma concentration of ions
stabilization of blood ph
conservin valuable nutrients such as glucose and amino acids
eliminatin organic waste products such as urea and uric acid
haha todays entry seem to b like wat i hav in mind!! haha
but i enjoyed it
so i shall just type n type
renal hilus inclues renal pelvis, renal artery n vein, lymphatic vessels and nreve fibres
function of nephron: filtration of blood to produce urine
gross section of a kidney comprises of the renal cortex, renal medulla which contains dozen of renal pyramids, minor calyces and major calyces
renal pyramid hav an apex and the base
apex is the one tat is poiting towards the minor calyces.
gross section of a nephron: renal corpuscle
renal tubules
renal corpuscle: bowman's capsule
glomerulus
blood enters the glomerulus via the afferent arterioles and leaves via the efferent
arterioles
renal tubules: proximal convulated tubule (reabsorb most nutrients
loop of henle [descending (osmosis takes place) and ascending limbs (transport sodium and chloride ions)]
distal convulated tubule (aldosterone, site for sodium reabsoption in exchange of secretion of hydrogen and potassium ions)
collecting duct (anti-diuretic hormone)
waa this is so lengthy.. hmm let see wat i remember
i remember the other names of the vitamins
haha
vitamin A is retionol
purpose is for anti-oxidant prevents cancer and heart attack and also for vision
vitamin D is cholecalciferol
absopriton of calcium
vitamin E is tocopherols
it is also for antioxidant
vitamin K is for clottin purposes
above mentioned vitamins are fat soluble
so now are the water soluble
b1 is known as thiamine
b2 is known as ribofalvin
deficiency for both wet beri beri which is heart failure n dry beri beri which is polyneuropathy and muscle wasting
nicotinic acid which is also known as niacin
deficiency leads to pellagra dermatitis, demention and diarrhoea
b6 otherwise called pyridoxine
b12 is cobalamin which is needed to prevent megalobastic anemia
the deficiency applies for folate as well
ok i think this is abit too much.. haha
but then again if i feel like writing more
oh my god i even remember the definiton of calories, wth?
calories is defined as the amount of heat energy necessary to raise the temperature of 1gm of water to 1 degree centigrade
ok im crazy to actually even memorise tat
hormones regulating kidney fuctions will b renin and erythropoietin which is found at the juxta- glomerular apparatus otherwise known as jga
renin is primarily to increase blood volume hence resulting in increase of blood pressure
erythropoietin is for production of red blood cells
hence patient hu hav renal failure tend to be anemic as the kidney fails to produce red blood cells
ok i think i shall stop for now.. continue later! haha
toodles
